Club Tennis Ladder

Indian Hills Club Tennis Ladder Rules
  1. In general, a player may challenge any other player above his or her position who is within the legal challenge range. The legal challenge range will be up to two spots from current ranking.
  2. Members are not required to accept more than one challenge per week. Otherwise, however, members must accept valid challenges from other members, or accept a loss by default. Players are not required to accept a challenge from another player they have defeated within the past week.  The challenged player may select the time of the match; however, the time should be mutually agreeable to both players.
  3. A match should be completed within ten days of the challenge, unless extenuating circumstances prevent it.  If a player fails to respond to a challenge after 3 days,or declines a challenge, they will lose by default.
  4. The challenger is responsible for providing a new can of tennis balls,
  5. If the challenger is the winner, he/she will take the loser's position on the ranking list. The loser will drop down one position on the ranking list, thus forcing the entire remainder of the list down one position.  For example, if player #3 challenges player #1 and wins, then player #3 will take the #1 seed, player #1 will move down to the #2 seed and player #2 be bumped to the #3 seed. If you challenge and lose, no one moves.
  6. Once a match has been completed, the loser does not have a right to re-challenge the winner until a time of at least one week has elapsed.
  7. The standard rules of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) apply to ladder matches. The method of scoring is based on winning two of three sets, with a tie-break at the end of any set that reaches a score of six games each. A 10-pt tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a 3rd set.
  8. The winner of the match is responsible for reporting the results within 24 hours, by emailing results to clintihcctennis@comcast.net, or turning in results to the proshop, and providing the following information:
  • date of the match,
  • winner's name,
  • loser's name,
  • and the match score.
 9.  The ladder will be updated weekly and sent out every Monday afternoon. If there are any disputes to scores reported, please e-mail or call.
 10.  At the end of the season, December 10, the player at the #1 spot will be declared the Club Champion of the ladder.
So don't just sit there -- make a phone call! Like you, the other members of your challenge ladder are eager to play. And, regardless of your frequency or level of play, there are tennis matches waiting for you!
